Think Green

According to the EPA, building related construction and demolition accounts for 26 percent of all non-industrial waste. This is why the use of environmentally responsible building materials is a critical component of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification process.

Chicago Metallic provides the following information for use in achieving LEED Green Building Rating System credits for the specification of Chicago Metallic products.

LEED Materials and Resources

MR Credit 4.1, 4.2: Recycled Content
Chicago Metallic Brand Ceiling Suspension Systems and Metal Ceilings are manufactured with the following recycled material content:

  • Material Total Recycled Type Content, % (by weight)
  • HRCmax Suspension Systems - Steel Minimum 25%
  • Standard Suspension Systems and Metal Ceilings - Steel Minimum 25%
  • Standard Suspension Systems and Metal Ceilings - Aluminum 100%

The post-consumer and post-industrial recycled contents are not reported due to the number of U.S. and international suppliers of the steel and aluminum materials used in manufacture. Contact Chicago Metallic for product and project specific LEED NC values.

MR Credit 5.1, 5.2: Regional Materials
Chicago Metallic Brand Ceiling Suspension Systems are manufactured at the facilities listed below. Credit may be given if the project location is within a 500 mile radius of the manufacturing facility.

  • Baltimore, MD 21875
  • Chicago, IL 60638

LEED Indoor Environment Quality

EQ Credit 4.1 to 4.5: Low Emitting Materials
Chicago Metallic Brand Ceiling Suspension Systems have no reportable VOC’s in the finished product.

Innovation & Design

Acoustical Performance
Chicago Metallic metal ceiling systems are available as high acoustically performing systems to enhance the indoor environment and may be considered as innovative.

LEED For Schools

Environmental Quality Credit 4 - Low Emitting Materials
Chicago Metallic Brand Ceiling Suspension and Metal Ceilings have no reportable VOC’s in the finished product

Environmental Quality Credit 10 - Mold Prevention
Chicago Metallic metal ceiling panels inhibit growth of mold and bacterial through inherent material performance
